File upload usage instructions
The following items must be compressed before uploading:
- All folders, including Volocity and Phylum libraries
- Openlab LIFF files
- Openlab Automations
- Openlab, Volocity and Phylum preference files
- All large files (e.g. more than 1MB in size)
Compressing files and folders ensures that all the data is retained. It will also make the upload complete much faster.
Note: If you are going to upload a Mac file from a PC, the file must be compressed on the Mac before transferring it to a PC. This ensures that special Mac information in the file is not lost.
The steps required to compress a file or folder vary with your computer operating system:
On Mac OS X 10.3 or later:
- Select the file or folder in the Finder
- Choose "File" -> "Create Archive"
- This will create a ".zip" file. Upload this file.
On Mac OS X 10.2.8 and earlier, or Mac OS 9:
Download and install the demo version of "DropStuff" from Aladdin:
- Drag the file or folder onto the "DropStuff" icon
- This will create a ".sit" or ".sitx" file. Upload this file.
On Windows XP and Windows 2000:
Download and install the evaluation version of "WinZip":
- In "Explorer", right-click the file or folder to compress, choose "WinZip" and "Add to xxxx.zip" where "xxxx" is the name of the original file
- This will create a ".zip" file. Upload this file
